Ether, air, fire, water,\u00a0and\u00a0earth \u2013 these are the five key elements considered as building blocks of the universe. Everything including the living and nonliving\u00a0things\u00a0in the universe are made of these foundational elements. The human body is no exception. Interestingly, elements can manifest both as matter and\u00a0energy. They concluded that the elements also exist in the universe in the form of three energies called\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doshas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Often referred to as the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tridoshas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vata<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pitta<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kapha<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are the three <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doshas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. V<i>ata<\/i>\u00a0controls\u00a0movement,\u00a0<i>Pitta<\/i>\u00a0regulates metabolism, and\u00a0<i>Kapha<\/i>\u00a0maintains structure. This maintains homeostasis in the human\u00a0body. While the\u00a0<i>Doshas<\/i>\u00a0can go out of balance as their names imply, they are all integral to life. Our inherent physical, mental, and emotional constitution, or <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prakriti,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> occurs due to a specific combination of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doshas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the time of\u00a0conception. This foundational blueprint remains unchanged throughout our lifetime. Each individual is composed of a unique balance of elements, with some elements in higher quantities than others. This results in the proportions of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doshas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in each individual varies. Most people are dominant in one or two <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doshas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
